For the Contractor

We understand that second to quality, cost can be the biggest determining factor which is why we work hard on every home to make sure you don't spend any more money than you need to for code compliance without compromising the performance for the homeowner.

Testing for New Homes

Illinois adopted the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and we can help minimize that burden for contractors and homeowners. Through the use of a RESNET certified HERS rater such as Brad Horn code can be met with the use of REM Rate software and the performance path to maximize flexibility and minimize additional cost to the building process.

Brad offers this service to general contractors building new homes as well as to new homeowners. The rating service includes the review of blueprints and creating a model of the home using REM software. This estimates the home’s energy usage and code compliance and will produce documents to obtain your building permit. This initial service takes about three-hours.

Throughout construction Brad will come to your job site at least twice to inspect framing and insulation for maximum thermal performance and conduct test to ensure the highest building standards are met. A final modeling of the home will be conducted and documentation for code compliance will be provided in addition to your homes HERS score most comparable to your cars MPG.

The cost of the service starts at $650. Pricing depends on whether additional testing is necessary, such as testing the ductwork in the attic.
